With two different ceremonies, the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences Recognized Two Real Resorts with its prestigious International Star Diamond Award, Green Star Diamond Award and Star Diamond Fine Dining Award

Cancún, MX - With two different great events Real Resorts' luxury gourmet all inclusive Hotels THE ROYAL in Cancún and THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen received last Wednesday April 14th the prestigious International Star Diamond Award

The first ceremony took place at 1pm at THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen with a rich attendance of local authorities, Tour Operator's representatives and press such as Playa del Carmen's Mayor Mr. Roman Quiam, City Council's Secretary Mr. Rafael Castro, as well as the President of Mexican Hotel's Association Mr. Rafael Armendariz were among the special guests who joined Real Resorts' Management at this important event.
After a sumptuous cocktail and a "cirque de soleil" style show, Mr. Joseph Cinque, President/CEO of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences gave the award to Mr. Fernando Garcia, Real Resorts General Director who was accompanied on the stage by Mrs. Monica Roberts, Company's Operations Director and Mr. Beat Muller, General Manager at THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen, the Hotel which won the prize for reaching highest levels of quality and service.

Few hours later, at 8pm, with another stunning event, the International Star Diamond Award was granted to THE ROYAL in Cancun. The ceremony took place at the lobby of this Luxury Hotel, located in the heart of Cancun's Hotels Zone with the presence of Mr. Dario Flota, Sub-Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo State, Mr. Rudolf Bittorf, German Consul in Cancun and ex NFL Football Player Mr. Vince Papale whose story inspired famous 2006 Disney movie Invincible. The celebration continued at the elegant Hotel's ballroom where all guests were invited to enjoy an acrobatic show and a cocktail party.

During both ceremonies Hotels The Royal Cancun and THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen were also recongnized with the Green Star Diamond Award for their strong commitment with ecology and for being environmentally friendly. It's important to mention that these Hotels are the first ones in Mexico to receive this prize.

Furthermore, The Royal Cancun and THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen were granted with a third important award: the Star Diamond Award for Fine Dining, which recognizes Real Resorts' Haute Cuisine, Chef's creativity, symphony of flavours in the Menus, excellence in dishes presentation and freshness of ingredients. A really  significant prize which confirms Real Resorts' compromise to satisfy the most demanding guests in its a la carte and buffet Restaurants.
This award is signed by the "Gotha" of International Chefs such as Ferran Adrià from Barcelona, Joel Robuchon from Montecarlo, David Burke and Jean Georges from New York and Alain Ducasse from Paris.

The Royal Cancun became the first Cancun property to receive the International Star Diamond Award in 2009 and is now the first Cancun property to receive the recognition for two consecutive years.  Also receiving the award for a second year is THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen, which recently completed an addition including 44 new suites in the upper and deluxe categories, a new restaurant, el Mediterráneo, and a stylish coffee bar, as well as a 25 meter junior-Olympic pool and pool bar.

The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences is renowned worldwide for awarding excellence in the global travel and luxury services sector. Each year the American Academy bestows its coveted International Star Diamond Award exclusively on five star establishments that are deemed to be of pinnacle quality. “The International Star Diamond Award is the most prestigious emblem of achievement, an award many strive for, but few obtain,” said Joseph D. Cinque, President/CEO of the AAHS.  The AAHS is based in New York City and is governed by an International Board of Trustees who are respected leaders in the industry and are themselves, world travelers. Valuable sources around the globe routinely submit nominations of five star establishments for review. The Board then refines the selection to those who qualify for the ultimate evaluation.

The award ceremony took place at a gala event at The Royal Cancun & Playa del Carmen Hotels, respectively, April 14th.  Dignitaries representing all aspects of the travel industry from the US, Canada and Mexico, as well as government leaders attended.
