Real Green is a sustainability program by Real Resorts Cancun & Playa del Carmen

Real Resorts goes Real Green!

In keeping with its environmental commitment, Real Resorts is pleased to announce a new sustainability program 'Real Green,' at all four of its resorts: THE Royal Cancun, Gran Caribe Real Cancun, THE Royal Playa del Carmen and the Gran Porto Real Playa del Carmen.

'Real Green' is an environmentally friendly practices program designed to encourage both guest and staff participation in sustainable practices such as sorting and recycling waste, quality controls over the laundering of towels and linens, as well as the use of light sensors in restrooms and other public spaces.

MARTI: Mesoamerican Reef Tourism Initiative

Real Resorts Group added sustainable practices in its four properties taking specific actions like preserving energy, reducing water consumption and reducing carbon dioxide emissions – enabling us to be a green group.
We invite you to join us and follow our example as we are all connected!

The Intelligent Suite System Design

All of our suites are Intelligent Suites. The Intelligent Suite has a built in system connected to the resort's electronic central that senses the presence of the guest 24-hours a day through an opaque-body scanner, the temperature inside the suite, and how many lights are on. When the guest leaves the suite, it automatically reduces the number of lights on, and adjusts the temperature and humidity allowing energy consumption to be reduced. It also turns off the air conditioning when the guest opens the door to the terrace, and turns it back on when they close the door.

Water: the most valuable resource

At THE Royal Cancun, which is located in Cancun´s Hotel Zone, there is a desalination plant that filters seawater for drinking water for the Resort. Since the Resort does not have to use the water service that the state provides, it leaves 350,000 liters free for areas of the city where this resource is most needed.

MARTI: Mesoamerican Reef Tourism Initiative

MARTI is an initiative by the Conservacion Internacional, Amigos de Sian Ka'an, Coral Reef Alliance, and the Riviera Maya Hotel Association, as well as the State of Quintana Roo government through the Tourism Secretariat and many other local social actors. This initiative proposes "development in harmony with nature'' within tourism development and sets environmental policies & practices in order to preserve the reef system's natural wealth, its biodiversity, and show how human society can live and develop in harmony with nature.

The future is in our hands and it is very fragile. Let's do something now!

Three Real Resorts properties have electrical energy plants that are started during the high-use hours, reducing the energy demand for the city and the Hotel Zone, and helping to prevent blackouts. We have also purchased and installed energy-saving bulbs in public areas and timers for lighted areas, which further reduces our energy consumption. We invite you to join us and turn off the lights when you don't need them.
Energy saving is everyone's responsibility!
